ADA Syllabus Statement
Faculty, is the ADA statement on your syllabi up to date?
Blinn requires that each syllabus include the following statement regarding students with disabilities:
"Any student who, because of a disability, may require special arrangements in order to meet the course requirements should contact the instructor as soon as possible to make necessary arrangements. Students must present appropriate verification from The Office of Disability Services during the instructor’s office hours. Please note that instructors are not allowed to provide classroom accommodation to a student until appropriate verification from The Office of Disability Services has been provided. For additional information, please contact The Office of Disability Services."
Faculty members are also required to announce the following within the first two class periods:
"I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has a disability that may require special accommodation. I am sure we can work out whatever arrangements are necessary. Please make an appointment with me during my office hours."
