It depends.

  • VA regulations will only allow us to certify classes that satisfy a requirement on the degree plan that you are currently pursuing and have declared as your major at Blinn College.  We cannot certify hours for any other reason.
  • Hazlewood for veterans can have all hours paid for as long as they are maintaining a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better and have not used all 150 hours.
  • Hazlewood for dependents can only have hours that satisfy a requirement on the degree plan that you are currently pursuing and have declared as your major at Blinn College.  We cannot certify hours for any other reason.

​Yes. Even though you submitted the TVC Hazlewood application you must submit a renewal application to receive the benefit in the next academic year (Fall, Spring, Summer).

Yes. You must submit our internal form, Annual Certification Request for Military Benefits, each academic school year for your VA benefits to be certified. Please note that we can only certify classes that satisfy a requirement on your Blinn College degree plan.

​Yes. VA will only pay Blinn College for the tuition and fees of the certified hours. The BAH is paid directly to the student. The student is responsible for any room and board charges prior to moving in.

  3. Document showing student is a dependent of the veteran:
    1. Birth certificate listing the veteran as a parent
    2. Veterans most recent IRS Tax Transcript listing the student as a dependent

  • ​​3 hours in Summer 1 (4 week) and 3 hours in Summer 2 (4 week)
  • 6 hours in the 10 week session in Summer 1

Once your Annual Certification Request for Military Benefits is received for the academic school year and you are registered for the upcoming semester (in courses that fit your degree plan), your hours will be certified. We do not certify tuition and fees until the census date(s) of the term for students using Chapter 33 benefits.

The only VA benefits that will keep your classes from being dropped for non payment is Chap 31 and Chap 33 (Post 9/11).
