Blinn Ag Club named outstanding chapter by TJCAA

Club also wins sweepstakes competition at annual convention

The Blinn College Ag Club is the 2025 Outstanding Chapter in Texas.

Blinn was honored as the top chapter at the Texas Junior College Agricultural Association (TJCAA) convention last weekend at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Blinn also was named Champion Sweepstakes Team.

Thirty-one Blinn agricultural science students from the Brenham and Bryan campuses attended the conference.

“The Outstanding Chapter Award highlights the college that has participated in the most TJCAA activities throughout the past school year, including yearly events, major club-sponsored activities, and service projects in the community,” said Agricultural Sciences Instructor Adrian Austin. “Additionally, Blinn Ag Club members competed in various categories at the conference, ultimately securing their win in Sweepstakes.”

At the convention, Shelby Cones was the champion outstanding student and scholarship winner, and Owen Seidenberger was the reserve champion outstanding student.

Blinn also had the reserve champion public relations team, consisting of Ryleigh Gilfoil, Lauren Hyan, Jenna Lindig, and Nathan Oakes.

• Job interview – Second, Jhett West; third, Carolyne Turner.
• Quiz competition, agronomy – Second, Dulce Hernandez; third, Joao Fernandes.
• Quiz competition, animal science – Second, Kenna Schram; third, Kaylee Sodolak; fourth place, Lane Guilbeaux.
• Quiz competition, agricultural economics – First, Fernandes; second, West; fourth, Gilfoil.
• Quiz competition, agricultural mechanics – First, Guilbeaux.
• Quiz competition, entomology – Second, Schram.
• Quiz competition, horticulture – Second, Hernandez.
