Experience the Buccaneer Band!
The Blinn College Buccaneer Band offers students an excellent opportunity to use their musical talents and, at the same time, enjoy the rewarding experience of being in a group of people with like interests. Music majors and non-music majors alike participate in the marching band and concert bands. Of the 125 Blinn Band members, approximately 30 percent are actual music majors. Between 50 and 60 high schools ranging from Class 1A to Class 5A are represented in the Buccaneer Band.
The Buccaneer Band is active throughout the year, appearing at half-time shows during the football season, exhibition performances as a guest college band at regional and area UIL marching band contests, campus concerts, and a concert tour each spring. The band also hosts and performs at the annual Buccaneer Marching Band Festival during the fall semester. The Buccaneer Band is part of the Blinn College Music Department, which offers other musical outlets to instrumental students such as Piano Study, Brass Ensemble, Woodwind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble and Steel Drum Band.
Concert and marching bands rehearse Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. with one 50-minute section rehearsal weekly. The Jazz Band rehearses Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. All groups adhere to this schedule.
