The Blinn College District will host New Student Registration at its Waller Campus on Wednesday, May 29, providing future students all they need to begin their college journeys at Blinn-Waller this fall.

Blinn will welcome new students from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at 20950 Field Store Road. Students can complete their application, take their Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA) if necessary, and receive personal assistance from Blinn’s academic advisors, financial aid advisors, and admissions specialists.

Blinn opened its new Waller Campus this spring, offering a range of highly transferable academic core classes. Classes are offered during convenient evening hours to help students balance work and education.

Students attending Blinn’s Waller location will have access to Blinn’s online academic resources, including tutoring and library services.

Blinn recently announced that it will introduce advanced manufacturing training at the Waller Campus this fall, offering an occupational skills award, Level-1 and Level-2 certificates, and an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in mechatronics. At Blinn’s state-of-the-art mechatronics lab, Waller students will receive training on FluidPower, electricity system, MechLab Mechatronics Training System, mechanical systems, sensor equipment training, and industrial motor controls workstations, as well as universal robotic arms and programmable logic controllers trainers.

Mechatronics is a branch of engineering that integrates mechanical, electrical, electronic, and software engineering with robotics, computer science, telecommunications, systems, control, and product engineering. Through Blinn’s Mechatronics Program, students learn to install, maintain, diagnose, and repair robotic and automated manufacturing systems.

According to the  U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, electromechanical and mechatronics technologists and technicians earned a median salary of $65,080 per year in 2023. Mechatronics is a growing field in Harris and Waller counties and students with these skills will find themselves in high demand by employers.
