The Blinn College-Brenham Campus Theatre Arts Program will stage “Wiley and the Hairy Man,” a story of bravery and the supernatural, as its next production.

“Wiley and the Hairy Man” will be presented Nov. 18-21 at the Dr. W.W. O’Donnell Performing Arts Center at 600 Blinn Boulevard on the Brenham Campus. Performances are at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, and Friday, Nov. 19, and 2 p.m. matinee performances will be staged Saturday, Nov. 20, and Sunday, Nov. 21.

“Wiley and the Hairy Man” is based on a legend passed down through the generations and is set in the backwaters of the South.

“This story is about a fatherless boy, his conjuring grandmother, his faithful dog, and the Hairy Man who haunts the swamps as well as Wiley’s dreams,” said Theatre Arts Program Director Brad Nies, who is directing the play. “As the story unfolds, our unlikely hero learns to rely on his own resources and as a result overcomes two villains – the Hairy Man and his own fears.”

Technical Theatre Arts Director Kevin Patrick will be technical director and Theatre Arts Instructor Jennifer Patrick will be choreographer and costumes, makeup, and hair designer.

Aiden McAllister has the role of Wiley, with Garrison Rutledge as the Hairy Man. Other performers are Alyssa Hale as Grammy and Ethan Jutras as Dog.

Members of the chorus are Hayden Evans, Josiah Fernandez, Alexandria Leverette, Samantha Nolen, Casey Prowell, and Nathan Scheffel.

Production team members are Luke Parker, stage manager; Amanda Winford, assistant stage manager; Steve Torres, chorus stage manager; Madison McDonald, costumes head; Jayden Peavey, sound board operator; Dustin Randolph, student lighting designer; and Alisha Satterwhite, Ja’Andre Johnson, Stephen Barricklow, Vincent Harris, Brandon Sowells, Bianca O’Neal, and Chett Sibley, front of house/technical work.

Tickets are available at Admission is free for all Blinn employees. Tickets are $5 for Blinn students, children, and senior citizens.

Blinn will follow “Wiley and the Hairy Man” with two spring performances – “Golden Boy” Feb. 17-20 and “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” April 28-May 1. The Blinn College-Brenham Campus Theatre Arts Program also will stage its third annual “10-Minute Play Festival” March 24-27.
