Hepatitis B (Must Be Completed Prior To First Day Of Class) – Proof of either

  • There is potential of exposure to Hepatitis B during clinical assignments.  All students must have had the Hep B series of vaccinations.  The CDC recommends (and we require) serologic testing for all Allied Health students.  Specifically, we require hepatitis B surface antibody (anti-HBs) to document immunity.  If test comes back with a protective concentration of less than 10mIU/mL, student needs to be revaccinated with 3 doses (over 4-6 months).  This is followed by another serologic test for immunity 1-2 months after the third dose.

Measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) – Proof of either:

  • two doses of an MMR vaccination at least 4 weeks apart

  • a serum titer confirming immunity to each disease

  • NOTE:  students born before January 1, 1957 are exempt from the MMR requirement

Measles – proof of either:

  • a second measles vaccination (may be part of a second MMR)

  • a serum titer confirming immunity

NOTE:  There must be at least one month between the first and second MMR vaccination.  Students born before January 1, 1957 are exempt from the measles requirement

Varicella (chicken pox) – Must have proof of either

  • a serum titer confirming immunity

  • documentation of two doses of varicella vaccine at least 4 weeks apart

Tetanus – proof of tetanus vaccination within the past 10 years

Tuberculosis Screening Test – a PPD skin test to screen for TB is required before entry into program (or a chest x-ray if student is unable to have a PPD)
