Blinn College in Sealy recently supported the Fantasy of Lights with a $1,000 contribution and a booth at the Fantasy.
They also participated in Fantasy of Trees at the Liedertafel with a tree themed “The Gift of Education.” The tree was decorated with over 80 entries of “class-inspired” ornaments made by Sealy students. The tree won third place in the Fantasy of Trees in Sealy and second place in the store front contest sponsored by the Sealy Chamber of Commerce.
The first-place winner of a $30 Wal-Mart Gift card was Valerie Alverez, for her ornament depicting the Revolutionary War. Second place went to Concha Bautista (paper mache apple and scholarly worm), and third place to Terria Perrien (Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria). Additionally, there were two Honorable Mention ornaments: Michelle Ryba (inside of a cell) and Elizabeth Payne (a baby in the womb).
Sealy campus staff and faculty really appreciated the enthusiasm of the students for this project.
