Blinn offers special online registration and support services forum for veterans and dependents

Virtual tool provides guided assistance with priority registration, academic advising, veteran services, and other Blinn support services

March 26, 2020

The Blinn College District will show its support and appreciation for veterans, active duty service members, and their families with an online priority registration and support resources forum with staff Thursday, March 26 and Friday, March 27, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Part of Blinn’s “Honoring Our Bravest” series, staff will monitor a special Microsoft Teams channel to communicate with military-connected students about admissions, academic advising, counseling and disability services, the Student Veteran Association, and Veteran Services. A link to the Teams channel is available at www.blinn.edu/veteran-services.

“In these unprecedented times, Blinn wanted to ensure military-connected students still have access to priority registration and all the resources the College has available,” said Caryn Hawkins, Assistant Director of Academic Advising. “This virtual version of our Honoring Our Bravest event allows us to continue to show our appreciation and support for the educational goals of all of our servicemen and women.”

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the on-campus Honoring Our Bravest event was moved online.

The Honoring Our Bravest Teams channel will connect military-connected students with Blinn staff to answer questions and provide guidance during early registration. Participants will be prompted to create a guest account to join the channel and live chat with staff.

Blinn’s Veteran Services Office provides support and resources for service members, veterans, and their families as they work to achieve their academic goals. For more information, visit www.blinn.edu/veteran-services or email veteran.services@blinn.edu.

Registration for Blinn’s Summer Minimester, Summer I, Summer II, and Fall 2020 semesters begins for current students on Monday, March 30, and is open to all students beginning Wednesday, April 8. For more information, visit www.blinn.edu/admissions.
