Blinn College-Brenham Theatre Arts opens new season with 'The Addams Family'
The classic tale with a musical twist comes to the O’Donnell Center Oct. 17-20
October 11, 2019
The Blinn College-Brenham Campus Theatre Arts Program will open the 2019-20 season with “The Addams Family” at the Dr. W.W. O’Donnell Performing Arts Center Oct. 17-20.
“The Addams Family” by Andrew Lippa, Marshall Brickman, and Rich Elice marks the first play in Blinn’s “Heroes and Villains” season. Based on characters created by Charles Addams, “The Addams Family” is a classic tale with a musical twist.
“This year promises to be one of our best, and what better way to start than with a great Halloween musical about silly misunderstandings, goofy mischief, and crazy lovers?” said Brad Nies, Theatre Arts Director.
The play centers around America’s kookiest family, whose 18-year-old daughter, Wednesday, has fallen in love with a nice young man from a respectable family. After she invites him and his parents to their home for dinner, the Addams family must confront the one thing they have avoided for generations – change.
Unlike the popular television series and movies, this play about America’s creepiest clan takes on a new spin as a musical comedy.
“The Addams Family” will open at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Oct. 17-18, and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 19-20. The middle school and junior high preview performances will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 17-18.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students, children, and senior citizens. To purchase tickets, visit www.blinn.edu/boxoffice, email email@example.com, or call 979-830-4024. Groups interested in the preview performances can get more information by calling the Theatre Arts office at 979-830-4269.
