Dr. A.C. “Buddy” and Judy Krizan recently gifted $15,000 to the Blinn College Foundation to establish an endowed scholarship benefiting Blinn College District students with physical disabilities.

“With this unique scholarship gift, Buddy and Judy are leading by example,” said Sam Sommer, Blinn Foundation Chair. “These scholarships will help make education affordable for students who already are demonstrating the tenacity to overcome life's challenges.”

The scholarship, the first established at Blinn specifically for students with physical disabilities, will be open to students who enroll in academic or workforce programs.

“I am blind, so we wanted to do something for others with physical disabilities so they can be self-sufficient,” Judy Krizan said. “We also feel like there is a need for more workforce employees and want to help someone who really needs this scholarship.”

The Krizans each spent their careers as teachers, and Buddy Krizan serves on the Blinn Foundation Board of Directors.

“Education is very important and Blinn College is doing a great job teaching its students,” Buddy Krizan said. “We want the students who receive our scholarship to go on to have successful careers without huge college loans.”

Students can apply for approximately $270,000 in Blinn scholarships for the 2019-20 academic year by completing the application at Students will be notified of scholarship awards beginning in May.

The Blinn Foundation is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization designed to provide financial support for programs and activities that enhance the quality of education for Blinn College students and expand educational opportunities for the entire community.
