Love and comedy share the stage as Blinn brings The Second City’s ‘It’s Not You, It’s Me’ to the O’Donnell Center
Valentine’s Day-themed comedy show replaces the previously announced ‘Made in America’
February 8, 2019
The Blinn College District will celebrate the Valentine’s Day season Sunday, Feb. 24, when it replaces The Second City’s previously announced “Made in America (Some Assembly Required)” with the love-themed comedy showcase, “It’s Not You, It’s Me, The Second City.”
In the world-famous comedy company’s latest laughter-inducing undertaking, The Second City finds the humor in heartbreak, missed connections, and the mire of human relationships. Your friends, family, and even your blind date will find something achingly familiar to laugh at thanks to comedy’s newest generation of writers and performers.
Celebrating almost 60 years of producing cutting-edge satirical revues, The Second City has launched the careers of generation after generation of comedy’s best and brightest. Its alumni list is a veritable “Who’s Who” of comedy, including Bill Murray, John and Jim Belushi, Mike Myers, Steve Carell, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, George Wendt, Tina Fey, John Candy, Stephen Colbert, Chris Farley, Harold Ramis, Jason Sudeikis, Keegan-Michael Key, and many more.
“After we received such positive feedback following ‘Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol,’ we realized there would be no better way to continue that success than by hosting another performance that celebrates the upcoming holiday. Tickets to ‘It’s Not You, It’s Me’ will make great Valentine’s Day gifts,” said Deborah Vavra, Interim Dean of Visual/Performing Arts and Kinesiology.
The show takes place at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24 – the same time and location in which “Made in America” originally was scheduled. Tickets that were purchased for “Made in America” will be honored.
Individual show tickets are $35, and discount $15 tickets are available for children ages 10 and under. Blinn employees and groups of 10 or more can purchase discounted $30 tickets and student rush tickets are $10. Single reception tickets will be available up to five days prior to the show for $20. To purchase tickets, visit www.blinn.edu/performing-arts-series or call 979-830-4024.
“It’s Not You, It’s Me” will mark the third show of Blinn’s 2018-19 Performing Arts Series, which brings elite performers from across the nation to the O’Donnell Center. Following the success of “Yesterday and Today: The Interactive Beatles Experience” and “Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol” during the Fall semester, this year’s Series will conclude Sunday, March 31, with “The Doo Wop Project.”
