The Blinn College District will bring a beloved holiday classic to the Dr. W.W. O’Donnell Performing Arts Center stage on Sunday, Dec. 2, when it presents Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.”
“Blinn College is thrilled to bring this delightful holiday classic to our community,” said Deborah Vavra, Interim Dean for the Division of Visual/Performing Arts and Kinesiology. “This production features first-class professional actors, stunning sets, and best of all, a timeless message of hope and compassion.”
Individual show tickets are $35, and discount $15 tickets are available for children ages 10 and under. Blinn employees and groups of 10 or more can purchase discounted $30 tickets and student rush tickets are $10. Single reception tickets will be available up to five days prior to the show for $20. A powerful story of redemption that was first published in 1843, “A Christmas Carol” has enchanted audiences the world over with its simple message of holiday joy. Ebenezer Scrooge, that most unrepentant and miserly of fellows, is made to see the light as he survives a merciless battery of revelations by the ghosts of his own life: Jacob Marley and the Christmas Spirits of Past, Present, and Future.
With script adaptation, direction, and a flawless performance as Scrooge by award-winning, 40-year theater veteran Scott H. Severance, this new adaptation of Dickens’ popular classic fills the stage with professional actors, lush costumes, stunning sets and puppetry, song and dance, a heavy dose of humor, and a timeless message. With the music of 26 beloved traditional carols of the season woven throughout this classic tale, “A Christmas Carol” is the perfect way to celebrate the holiday season.
“This is a spectacular show that delivers a classic, heart-warming tale and puts the audience in the holiday spirit,” Vavra said.
In conjunction with the show, Blinn’s Division of Visual/Performing Arts and Kinesiology will host a toy drive in support of CASA for Kids. Patrons are encouraged to drop off items at the O’Donnell Center, including gift cards and beds-in-a-bag. CASA for Kids advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children in court through the training and support of community volunteers.
