The Blinn College District will open its 2018-19 Performing Arts Series with a Beatles tribute unlike any other.

“Yesterday and Today: The Interactive Beatles Experience” will take the stage at the Dr. W.W. O’Donnell Performing Arts Center on the Blinn-Brenham Campus (map) Sunday, Oct. 28, at 4 p.m.

Anchored by brothers Billy, Ryan, and Matthew McGuigan, “Yesterday and Today” does away with the worn-out tribute format of bad wigs and fake accents. Instead, they perform as themselves and leave the song choices completely in the hands of the audience by collecting request cards prior to the show. On those cards, audience member can fill out their name, favorite Beatles song, and reason for their choice. Two minutes before the show, the set list is created based upon the songs selected by the audience, creating a unique experience with each performance.

As the McGuigan brothers’ grew up, their father Bill owned every Beatles album, including the obscure ones, and shared his love of the Beatles catalog with his boys. After he passed away following a difficult but courageous battle with leukemia, that love of the Beatles’ music would prove to be one of the greatest gifts he could leave his children.

Now Billy, Ryan, and Matthew have united their musical talents, charms, and passion for performing to design the ultimate living tribute to their father. With each show, they create a unique, interactive concert experience born out of the idea that everyone, like themselves, has a story or memory attached to The Beatles’ legendary music.

Individual show tickets are $35. Discounts are available for children ages 10 and under ($15), and groups of 10 or more ($30). Blinn employees can purchase tickets for $30 and Blinn student rush tickets are $10. Single reception tickets will be available up to five days prior to the event for $20.

Season tickets for the 2018-19 season are $125 for four shows, and new season ticket purchasers can upgrade to premier season tickets for an additional $40. In addition to “Yesterday and Today,” this year’s Performing Arts Series includes:

  • Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” featuring 26 beloved Christmas Carols, at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2;
