Catholic of Union of Texas, The KJT, gifted the Blinn College Foundation $1,000 to assist students taking non-credit, continuing education Czech courses at the Blinn College-Schulenburg Campus. 
"KJT has been a longtime partner assisting Blinn-Schulenburg students in learning the Czech language," said Becky Garlick, Executive Dean, Schulenburg Campus. "Offering the Czech courses is an important way of preserving Czech heritage in our area."

The donation provided partial scholarships for Blinn-Schulenburg students taking Czech courses.
"The Blinn College Foundation is grateful for the donation from KJT in support of Blinn-Schulenburg students taking Czech courses," said Sam Sommer, Blinn Foundation Chair. "The donation assisted many students eager to learn the about the Czech language and culture."

Beginning, intermediate, and advanced Conversational Czech courses will be offered on campus and live online beginning in September. The beginning and intermediate courses are $249, while the advanced course is $79. For more information on the course schedule, please visit www.blinn.edu/czech. 

"The purpose of the donation is to help further the learning of the Czech language," said Kevin Kana, KJT state secretary and treasurer. "KJT was founded by Czech immigrants in Texas, so we are passionate about promoting the Czech culture and language. Instructor Thadious Polasek does an excellent job, is fluent in Czech and covers a lot in one semester."

A fifth-generation Czech, Polasek teaches all Czech courses offered at Blinn-Schulenburg.
