Blinn College posts record enrollment during Winter Minimester

Winter Minimester EnrollmentBlinn College enrolled 1,845 students for the Winter 2018 Minimester, an 8.7 percent increase over the previous year and the highest Winter Minimester total in College history.

Students enrolled in 90,000 contact hours, an 8.1 percent increase. This marked the first year that all of Blinn’s minimester courses were offered online.

Since 2012, enrollment in Blinn’s Winter Minimester has increased by more than 80 percent, as students enjoy the convenience and affordability the minimester offers. Winter Minimester allows students to take courses for college credit during the break between the Fall and Spring semesters. Through Blinn’s Distance Learning Program, students can conveniently take their courses from home or while traveling.

Registration for Blinn’s Spring semester is open now and available through Monday, Jan. 15.

Blinn has articulation agreements with 39 four-year institutions, and its academic transfer rate regularly ranks among the highest in the state and the nation. According to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), Blinn’s academic transfer rate of 34.2 percent ranks second in the state and far exceeds the statewide average of 21.1 percent.

According to the THECB’s, Blinn students who take 30 credit hours during the 2017-18 academic year will save $3,717, or 42 percent, compared to state residents at the average Texas public university.

In addition to Blinn’s low tuition and fees, the Blinn Foundation offers more than 200 endowed scholarships available to incoming and returning students from a wide range of backgrounds, majors, and experiences. Blinn students and prospective students also can register for external scholarships and participate in grant programs.
