Blinn College will offer courses in industrial technology, industrial safety, specialty welding, and business and technology this month at the A.W. Hodde, Jr. Technical Education Center.

For the second consecutive year, Blinn College students will have the opportunity to share their original research and cutting-edge innovations with the community.

Student researchers will showcase their projects in the Blinn-Bryan Campus Student Center from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, during the second annual Student Research Celebration. Researchers will present posters describing their work and be available to discuss as their schedules allow.

The come-and-go event is free and open to the public.

A pioneer in community college student research, Blinn is inspiring students to conduct original research and artistic projects in a number of fields, including chemistry, biology, geography, psychology, humanities, and visual arts. Since 2012, more than 175 Blinn students have participated in research, including several who have traveled across the United States to present their findings at national conferences.

This year’s research celebration will feature presentations that focus on subjects ranging from chemistry and psychology to art and photography.

“We want the entire community to see the amazing things our students are doing, and get more students excited about research,” said Joyce Langenegger, Director of Professional Development and coordinator of the conference. “They are doing true research—initiating projects themselves and earning recognition for it. We’re excited to offer others an inside look at what we’re up to.”

Registration for Blinn’s May Minimester, Summer I and II, and Fall 2017 semester is now open for all students. For enrollment information and to learn about financial aid opportunities, visit: www.blinn.edu.
