Blinn College health clinics extending medical services this Fall
Campus health clinics contracted out to local hospitals expand treatment options
September 8, 2017
When students return to Blinn College’s Brenham and Bryan campuses for the Fall semester, their campus health clinics will be prepared to offer newly remodeled facilities and an even higher level of student care.
Both health clinics were closed from July 1 through Aug. 27 as they underwent renovations that included new floors, wall surfaces, ceilings, improved lighting, and expanding lab space.
More importantly, the health clinics will be staffed by nurse practitioners, advanced registered nurses, and physician assistants who can prescribe medication, examine patients, diagnose illnesses, and provide treatment, much like physicians do. In March, the Blinn Board of Trustees approved new contracts for the Brenham Campus Health Clinic to be operated by Brenham Clinic personnel and the Bryan Campus Health Clinic to be run by Baylor Scott & White Clinic.
“Students can be seen on campus at no cost to them and no out-of-pocket expense for a routine visit, and they will be seen by a higher level of care,” said Carol Caddell, Health Clinic Coordinator. “We believe this additional service will help students stay healthy, stay in class, and be successful.”
If students are referred to an off-campus physician, both clinics guarantee same-day treatment at affiliated clinics.
The set-up and location for both health clinics remains the same. Walk-ins are welcome with guaranteed same-day care. The Brenham Health Clinic is located at Green Street and College Avenue (map) and the Bryan Health Clinic is located in D-150 (map). Clinic hours are Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
