Blinn to host ‘Women of Ireland’ at the O’Donnell Center
Ticket sales will benefit the Brenham Children’s Chorus
March 10, 2017
Blinn College’s Dr. W.W. O’Donnell Performing Arts Center will host Women of Ireland, presented by the Brenham Children’s Chorus and produced by Celtic Entertainments on Sunday, March 19, at 4 p.m.
Women of Ireland features a 20-member touring company made up of the best female performers within the Irish musical tradition performing alongside other world-class musicians, singers, and dancers. Celtic Entertainments also developed The Young Irelanders that performed at Blinn in 2015.
Women of Ireland will present a select group of female artists to showcase the well of talent that exists within Ireland’s traditions of music, song, and dance. The theme will be the presentation of the revered qualities of Ireland’s ethic music, transported from the Irish fireside to the O’Donnell Center.
Well known Irish songs such as “Danny Boy,” “Carrickfergus,” and “You Raise Me Up” are intermingled with classic vocal numbers like “Let It Be” and “God Bless America.” All pieces are given a unique Irish and Celtic treatment.
Tickets are on sale now and all seats are $30. All ticket sales benefit the Brenham Children’s Chorus. Tickets may be purchased online at www.brenhamchildrenschorus.com/ or by calling 979-277-3897. The performance is underwritten by Susan Cantey, in memory of her favorite Irishman, Craig C. Cantey, Jr.
