Bryan Campus Writing Center hosts International Writing Centers Association

Day at Blinn was part of a week-long seminar hosted by Texas A&M’s University Writing Center

The Blinn College-Bryan Campus Writing Center recently hosted a day of International Writing Centers Association (IWCA) Summer Institute sessions.

The day included a tour of Blinn’s Writing Center, an overview of the Writing Center’s operations, a presentation on the Writing Center’s training program and interactive sessions on topics related to tutoring and writing center practices. Participants included writing center directors, assistant directors and coordinators at four-year and two-year colleges and universities worldwide. The day at Blinn was part of a week-long seminar hosted by the University Writing Center at Texas A&M University.

The Blinn-Bryan Writing Center serves students by offering face-to-face tutorial sessions, student workshops, presentations, assistance with transfer essays, help in Parallel Studies labs and other services. Each year, the Center hosts approximately 38,000 tutorial sessions and serves almost 500 workshop attendees. Writing Center tutors are certified by the College Reading and Learning Association, an international tutoring certification program.
