Blinn College celebrated the students who recently captured national championships in cheer, dance and livestock judging Wednesday night at the Brenham campus Student Center.

Blinn’s cheer and dance teams each won a national championship at the NCA and NDA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championships in April at Daytona Beach, Fla. The livestock judging team was named the national team of the year after winning three of four national competitions.

Spirit coordinator and dance coach Sarah Flisowski introduced her team and gave thanks to cheer coach Michael Brewster and the team’s supporters.

“Four years ago Michael came on board and helped build a two national champion teams,” Flisowski said. Brewster then followed by introducing the cheerleaders.

Livestock judging coaches Joe Rathmann and Brice Mund introduced the team while Agricultural Sciences Instructor Doug Pierce spoke about the progress that the livestock judging team has made at Blinn College. Rathmann and Mund were named national livestock judging coaches of the year.

“I was here when the livestock judging team began from humble beginnings and now we have the top team in the nation,” Pierce said.

Registration is currently open for Blinn’s May minimester, Summer and Fall semesters. For enrollment information and to learn about financial aid opportunities, visit:
