Blinn announces its largest Spring class in College history

Bryan campus and online growth fuel record enrollment of 17,554 students

Fueled by the exceptional growth of its Bryan campus and online course offerings, Blinn College announced the largest Spring semester in its 131-year history today with 17,554 students enrolled in Blinn courses.

This year’s enrollment marked a 4.6 percent increase over last Spring, and included a 3.6 percent increase in contact hours. State funding is determined by contact hours, the amount of time students spend with their instructors.

Blinn-Bryan campus enrollment increased 5.7 percent and Brenham campus enrollment held steady, while Sealy saw a 7.1 percent increase and Schulenburg enrollment dipped 24.3 percent.

The College continues to see the fastest growth in its Distance Learning, or online, courses as Blinn saw an 18.3 percent increase in online-only students. Blinn’s Distance Learning Program allows students to enroll in fully online courses or enroll for blended courses, which utilize a combination of face-to-face and online instruction and minimize the need for travel to and from campus.

Blinn enrolled a school-record 19,317 students last Fall and has experienced 37.5 percent growth since 2006. Students taking 30 credit hours at Blinn in 2014-15 will save approximately $4,000 in tuition compared to the average Texas public university (48.8 percent), and Blinn offers more than 220 endowed scholarships.

The College’s academic transfer rate regularly ranks among the highest in the state and nation and is approximately 20 percent higher than the state average.

Registration for Blinn’s 12-week Spring courses is open through Feb. 15, while registration for 8-week courses is available through March 22. For enrollment information and to learn about financial aid opportunities, visit:
