College hosts 2013 Blinn Professionals Association Awards Banquet
The Blinn College – Bryan campus celebrated another year of outstanding collegiate instruction recently, presenting Teaching Excellence Awards to Brandon Franke and Jaime Hardy at its annual Blinn Professional Association banquet.
Franke, employed at Blinn since 1998, serves as assistant division chair for the Social Sciences and professor of History and Government.
“I believe I have two roles,” Franke said. “My first role is to educate my students to the best of my ability, and my second role is to prepare them for a four-year institution.”
Hardy has served as a nursing professor in Allied Health since 2005. She described her educational philosophy as being deeply connected to the nursing theorist Imogene King.
“She believed that you take people where they are at physically, emotionally and spiritually and you build from there,” Hardy said. “Once you understand where the student is, you can formulate a goal and build towards that goal.”
Recognizing excellence among Blinn students was also on the banquet agenda, as freshman mathematics major Paulo Montoya and freshman biology major Rashana Mahamane were each awarded a Blinn Merit Scholarship.
The luncheon paid homage to some of Blinn’s retiring Bryan campus faculty and staff from the Bryan campus, including:
