The Golden Dragon Acrobats are returning to Brenham’s Dr. W.W. O’Donnell Performing Arts Center on the Blinn College campus April 10 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 for general admission, $15 for students, $20 for groups of 10 or more and may be reserved by calling the O’Donnell ticket line at 979-830-4024.
The two-hour performance, with an intermission, will include body contortion, juggling, bicycle stunts, comedy, dancing, tumbling and balancing.
The Acrobats last performed at the O’Donnell Center in 2008.
“This is classic ‘fun for the whole family’,” said Glen Vierus, coordinator of campus events and the O’Donnell Center. “We are very happy to be able to bring them back to Brenham.”
Recognized throughout the United States and abroad as the premiere Chinese acrobatic touring company of today, The Golden Dragons present award-winning acrobatics, traditional dance, colorful costumes and ancient and contemporary theatrical techniques. The performance features acrobats perched atop a 30 foot tower of chairs, bending like rubber and balancing human pyramids while riding moving bicycles.
The Golden Dragon Acrobats hail from Cangzhou, Hebei province, in the People’s Republic of China and have toured the United States continuously since 1978. The 25 members are athletes, actors and artists who have studied and trained for their craft since early childhood. The group has performed in all 50 states and in more than 65 countries across the world.
