Blinn trades blue for pink in benefit game
Wednesday’s women’s basketball game between Blinn College and Kilgore College will benefit breast cancer research. The Pink Zone game begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Blinn P.E. Building with all proceeds and donations going to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for children. Blinn students and employees get in free with an ID.
The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Pink Zone began in 2007 as a global project to raise breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. For more information on the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund, go to www.wbca.org/kayyowwbcacancerfund.asp. Yow was the North Carolina State head women’s basketball coach who died last month from breast cancer. The V Foundation was founded by North Carolina State head men’s basketball coach Jim Valvano shortly before his death from cancer in 1993.
