The technical theater program on the Blinn College Brenham campus is a premiere example of how the college is committed to excellence in education and preparing students to succeed in their lives and their careers.
Technical theater programs students are encouraged to experience the various design opportunities available.
The college's fine arts department -- which includes instrumental and vocal music as well as theater arts -- has at least one musical, two musical ensemble performances, four drama performances and a number of student directed pieces during the academic year, providing technical theater students an opportunity to design sets, lights, costumes, makeup and sound.
There are also opportunities to work with touring events that are booked into the Dr. W.W. O’Donnell Performing Arts Center on campus, and the theater arts department participates in at least one play festival every year giving students opportunities to show case their skills on a statewide level.
In addition, students have traveled to Houston, New York and other cities to experience professional productions shows and attend workshops.
The Dr. W.W. O'Donnell Performing Arts Center has a 500-seat theater with proscenium stage, the 170-seat black box MRW Studio Theater, a scene shop, a computerized lighting system, a fly system and cyber lights (intellect lighting).
