Texas Promise/529 Plans

Texas Promise Plan – (not Texas Tomorrow or Texas Guarantee Tuition Plan).  The purchaser of the plan must authorize Blinn College for each semester the student intends to use the plan.  You can authorize as many semesters as are available.  Once you have authorized this we will pull down the information and apply a contract for the tuition and fees.  There is no need to contact the Financial Aid Office or email to inform us that you have accomplished this.  Once we process this you will see a payment applied to the student’s account.

There is one step but two ways to accomplish it: 

  1. The purchaser of the plan must log into Texas Tuition Promise Fundand complete the online form under the Benefits Information section. 
  2. Print, complete, and submit the Benefit Payment Authorization form that can be found under the Forms & Materials section.

Other 529 Plans:
The owner of the plan needs to contact the administrator and follow the instructions on how to utilize it.  Once the student/owner has the authorization statement or plan statement, which explains what it will pay and how to bill the program, please send it to tuitionplans@blinn.edu.

Workforce Solutions: The student needs to contact Workforce Solutions to obtain a Purchase Order (PO).  The P.O. can be for tuition and fees or books.

Tuition and Fees – The P.O. needs to be submitted to Financial Aid.  The P.O. is for specific classes and charges.  If the student’s enrollment changes and no longer reflects the P.O. then the contract to cover the tuition and fees will be removed. 

Books – The P.O. for books and supplies needs to be taken to the Barnes and Nobles book store on their appropriate campus.   

Tuition Assistance for Texas National Guard: Students need to apply on GoArmyEd.  Students with questions should contact tuitionplans@blinn.edu.

U.S. Air Force Tuition Assistance: Students received an approval letter that needs to be submitted to the Financial Aid Office at tuitionplans@blinn.edu. 

Students can follow the progress of their paperwork.  They can:

  1. Log into myBLINN
  2. Click on Financial Aid Checklist
  3. Choose the correct award year,
  4. Click on ‘Documents Required for Financial Aid’.
