Professional Office Specialist Program

Professional Office Specialist program prepares students for work in office environments where knowledge of office procedures, software/hardware, administrative, and interpersonal skills are required to perform duties.

POFT 1009 Administrative Office Procedures I
POFT 1049 Administrative Office Procedures II

This 200 hour training program will develop the skills an individual will need to efficiently work in an office.

All students, no matter their specialization, will learn basic:

Office Skills
Phone Skills
Technical Skills
Technology Skills
Customer Service Skills
Communication Skills

And will learn advanced skills in:

Business Enhancement
Finance and
Accounting Office & Administrative Support

What is a Professional Office Specialist?

  • Professional Office Specialist typically do the following:
  • Maintain paper and electronic filing systems for records and messages
  • Route and distribute incoming mail and email
  • Answer routine letters and email
  • Reply and attach files to incoming messages
  • Correct spelling and grammar to ensure accuracy
  • Operate fax machines, videoconferencing and phone systems, and other office equipment
  • Use computers for spreadsheet, word processing, database management, and other applications
  • Complete forms in accordance with company procedures
