Blinn College IDs Profile for Next President

Position for top executive posted online

An intensive, four-day series of recent meetings with stakeholders of  Blinn College  has netted a comprehensive profile of traits that constituents want in Blinn’s next chief executive.  These traits and stakeholder input helped Blinn’s Board of Trustees craft a position description for president, which the College has posted on its employment website.

With input from students, faculty, staff, campus communities and the College’s  presidential search firm, Gold Hill Associates of Asheville, N.C., a leadership profile emerged for an ideal candidate who can navigate among and advance Blinn’s four campuses in Brenham, Bryan, Sealy and Schulenburg.

The presidential profile identified more than a dozen preferred leadership characteristics.  The two-page list includes such traits as:

  • Experience in a multi-campus setting, with an ability to lead in an environment that values and respects differences.
  • An understanding of and a commitment to the role and mission of a diverse, comprehensive community college.
  • A demonstrated commitment to a strong student life program, with experience in athletics and on-campus student living preferred.
  • A successful record of promoting partnerships and coalitions with business, government, public schools, senior colleges, universities and other groups.

The process of hiring Blinn’s next president is expected to lead to a final candidate this fall. Details concerning the process, including a tentative timeline and updates from the search committee, are available at
