Trustees name three finalists for president of Blinn College

After a national search for a president, Blinn College’s Board of Trustees has selected three finalists. Each candidate was chosen for the next round of reviews based on their high quality administrative and academic experience.

The finalists were recommended by the college's 15-member search advisory committee from a pool of 35 candidates following a broad, national search coordinated by Gold Hill Associates of Asheville, N.C.

Finalists for the 14th President of Blinn College include:

  • Warren R. Nichols, Ed.D., president, Volunteer State (Tenn.) Community College.
  • Harold E. Nolte, Jr., Ed.D., president, Ellis County campuses, Navarro College.
  • Edward E. Raspiller, Ed.D., provost, Blinn’s Brazos County campuses.

The search committee was chaired by Douglas Borchardt, member of the Blinn Board of Trustees. After the position was posted in June, Gold Hill Associates began making recruiting calls and visits while the College advertised for the position nationally.

Applicants were reviewed earlier this month. Gold Hill consulted with the faculty, staff, administrators and alumni who serve on Blinn’s search committee, and the names of the three finalists were forwarded to the Blinn Board of Trustees at last night’s regularly scheduled board meeting.

Trustees have established a goal of hiring a new president by this fall. Open forums for the finalists will next be scheduled in the near future. In those forums, faculty, staff and community members will be given the opportunity to have their questions answered by the finalists. Following the forums, Blinn Trustees will meet again to discuss and potentially make a decision to offer the post to one of the finalists.
