Douglas R. Borchardt, search committee chair, Board of Trustees member
This promises to be an historic time at Blinn College as we actively and publicly seek Blinn’s 14th president. Blinn is truly a jewel among colleges in Texas, and we are excited to set about finding a proven leader.
As chairman of the presidential search committee, I can assure you that we are committed to keeping you informed throughout the search process.
The board of trustees has appointed a 15-member committee drawn from faculty, staff, trustees and community leaders to help select our next president. I am very grateful to these individuals for volunteering their time and energy to help identify the best possible candidates for Blinn College.
The college has also engaged Gold Hill Associates of Asheville, N.C., to assist in the search. Gold Hill is a leading national firm in assisting community colleges with presidential searches and will work closely with our presidential search committee in finding our own “superstar” president for Blinn College.
This month, the board of trustees will approve the criteria/profile for the president and begin the search process immediately, including advertising the opening and actively recruiting those who fit the profile. Each of you will have an opportunity to share your vision of Blinn’s next president, whether you’re invited to listening sessions with associates from Gold Hill, whether you e-mail your suggestions to Becky Krebs (firstname.lastname@example.org) or whether you attend campus meetings with the finalists.
Although we have set fall 2011 as a goal for selecting a new president, we also want to dedicate enough time to the process to be thoughtful, thorough and deliberative.
On behalf of the search committee and the board of trustees, I thank you for your support and help in finding our next president.
