Blinn College infielder selected All-Region
Blinn College sophomore Isaac Nuti was selected as an All-Region infielder. The Brenham High graduate finished the season hitting .373 with 55 runs, 74 hits, 12 doubles, three triples, two homeruns, 39 rbi, and 13-14 stolen bases. The Buccaneers came in second to No. 1 San Jacinto in the Region XIV tournament.

Blinn falls to No. 1 San Jacinto; Finishes runner-up in Region XIV tournament
After losing its first game at the Region XIV tournament, the Blinn Buccaneers fought back through four elimination games to earn a chance to play the top-ranked team in the country in the championship game. But the Bucs were unable to muster another rally and fell to No. 1 San Jacinto 6-2. Blinn finishes the year with a 37-21 record.
The Bucs won four games since losing the opener 0-6 to the host team Northeast Texas on Saturday. Blinn rallied to beat Texarkana 5-4 and Navarro 4-3. It took 13 innings for the Bucs to beat Alvin 5-3 on Monday night. And earlier today, Blinn advanced to the championship game by scoring seven runs in the eighth inning to overtake Northeast Texas 14-11.

Blinn advances to Region XIV championship game
The Blinn Buccaneers will play San Jacinto for the Region XIV championship tonight in Mount Pleasant. The Bucs rallied yet again to survive in the losers’ bracket by beating Northeast Texas 14-11. Blinn scored seven runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to take a 14-10 lead against the team that the Bucs lost to in round one of the tournament. Colton Eubanks of Caldwell came in with two on and no outs in the top of the ninth and held the Eagles to one run.
Blinn will immediately turn around and face top-ranked San Jacinto. The Bucs must beat the Gators twice to win the tournament and earn a trip to the JUCO World Series. The second game if needed would be played tomorrow at 1 p.m.

Blinn edges out Alvin 5-3 to stay alive in tourney
Blinn College baseball earned another day of NJCAA Region 14 tournament play as they edged out Alvin College 5-3 in 13 innings Monday night. Blinn will face Northeast Texas Community College at 5 p.m. Tuesday to determine who will have a chance to play an undefeated San Jacinto College team.
Blinn and Alvin played each other very close throughout the entire game. Both teams were scoreless in the first three innings. Blinn put the first run of the night on the board in the top of the fourth. Brandon Lawrence doubled to left field with one out. Chris Hernandez advanced when he got hit by a pitch. Johnny Garcia flied out to the center fielder and Lawrence was able to tag up and head to third. During the next at-bat he scored on a balk by the pitcher.
No runs were scored by either team in the fifth or sixth innings. Alvin got their first run in the bottom of the seventh. Asai Adame started things off with a single to center field. Trevor Swint followed with a single to first base. Drew Vest sacrificed to advance both runners. Evan Frazer popped a sacrificed fly that put 8 across the plate.
Blinn responded in the top of the eighth when Michael Guerra hit a big one-run homer to left field, putting them up 2-1. Alvin evened things up again in the bottom of the ninth with another run. They got two early outs before 1 bunted for a single to the pitcher. Frazer singled to centerfield, advancing 1. 19 hit a shot to second and 1 scored on Blinn errors. The run put the score at 2-2 going into extra innings.
Both teams fought hard in the 10th, putting up one run each. Blinn kicked it off with a single by Lee Neumann to center field. Max Minor reached base on an error at second, moving Neumann to third. Guerra drew a walk to load the bases before David Tittle singled to right field, scoring Neumann. Runners were left on as the last two batters struck out looking.
Alvin wasn’t done yet and responded with one to tie things back up. Andrew Dresden opened with a walk and advanced on a sacrifice by Wilmy Morrero. Cameron Wheeless singled to left field, moving Jack Mabe to third. Adame sacrificed to get Mabe home.
The 11th went quickly with three-up, three-down on both sides. The 12th was also uneventful with four batters coming to the plate for each side, but no runs. The tides turned in the top of the 13th as Blinn was able to score two runs.
Lawrence led off with a single to center field and moved to second on a balk by the Alvin pitcher. Lawrence scored in a very close play at the plate when PD McIntyre singled to left field. McIntyre advanced to second on a passed ball and then to third on a wild pitch. Neumann singled to center field, driving in McIntyre for the final run.
Alvin fought hard to stay alive in the bottom of the 13th, but came up just short. Adame led off with an out on a dropped third strike. Swint followed with a single to right field. Vest struck out, leaving Swint on first with two outs. Frazer singled to left field, putting runners on first and second. Both runners moved a base on a passed ball in the next at bat. Forrestt Allday drew a walk to load the bases. James Wooster hit a long fly to center field that just stayed in the park for the final out to end the game.
Lawrence led Blinn’s offense with four hits. Guerra, Tittle, McIntyre and Neumann had two each. Minor and Garcia each had one. Colton Eubanks got the win with three innings pitched, three hits, no runs, two walks and four strikeouts.
Offensive leaders for Alvin were Allday, Dresden, Swint, Vest and Frazer, all with two hits. Blake Marchal, Morrero, Wheeless, Adams and Kyle Condel had one each. Colton Spriggins got the pitching loss with one inning pitched, three hits, two runs, no walks and a strikeout.

Blinn survives 13-inning game in Region XIV tournament
The Blinn Buccaneers will play Northeast Texas at 1 p.m. today in the Region XIV baseball tournament. The Bucs have won three games since losing the opener 0-6 to NTCC on Saturday. Blinn rallied to beat Texarkana 5-4 ,and then came from behind again to eliminate Navarro 4-3. Last night’s game with Alvin went 13 innings with Blinn breaking out with two runs to win 5-3.
If Blinn can defeat Northeast Texas, it will face top-ranked San Jacinto at 5 p.m. The Bucs would have to beat the Gators twice to win the tournament and earn a trip to the JUCO World Series that will be played May 29-June 5 in Grand Junction, CO.

Blinn College lives to see another day of tournament play after eliminating Navarro College Monday morning 4-3 in the NJCAA Region 14 tournament. The Bucs will take on Alvin in the 8 p.m. game.
The game was tied 3-3 going into the ninth inning. Blinn held Navarro and was able to score the winning run in the bottom of the inning on a two-out single by Michael Guerra.
Blinn took the early lead in the bottom of the first inning, scoring the first two runs of the game. Isaac Nuti singled to center field with one out and no runners on. Guerra followed with another single to the center fielder, advancing Nuti to second. David Tittle reached base on a fielder's choice to the third baseman that left Nuti out at third. Guerra was able to score on an error and Tittle moved to third. Brandon Lawrence pushed Tittle home with a single to left field to wrap up scoring in the first.
Neither team scored in the second before Navarro was able to put two on the board in the top of the third. Christian Stringer singled to right field to start things off. Zach Voight walked to advance Stringer, who then moved to third on a wild pitch. Casey Grayson singled to right field, scoring Stringer and Voight.
The fourth and fifth were scoreless for both teams. Navarro took a brief lead when they put another run on the board in the top of the sixth. Joey Fuda singled to center field to start things off. Myers reached base on a fielders choice and Fuda moved to second. Ryan Guedry sacrificed to move the runners. Justin Snider followed up with a sacrifice fly to put Fuda across the plate.
Blinn responded in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game up 3-3. Lee Neumann drew a lead-off walk and moved to second on a sacrifice by Max Minor. Nuti singled to center field, which was enough for Neumann to score.
Both teams held out in the eight inning and Navarro was unable to score in the top of the ninth. Blinn opened things up in the bottom of the inning with a fly out to right field by Neumann. Minor followed with a single to center field. Nuti grounded out to the second baseman, moving Minor to second. Guerra drew a walk to put runners on first and third. Tittle came through big in the clutch with a hard single to left field, scoring Minor and keeping his team alive for another day.
Nuti and Tittle led the Blinn offense with two hits each. Minor, Guerra, Brandon Lawrence and PD McIntyre had one apiece. Colton Lindloff got the pitching win with 1.2 innings pitched, two hits, no runs, no walks and one strikeout.
Grayson and Fuda each had two hits for Navarro in the game. Stringer, Voight, Files, Myers and Guedry had one. Chris Marlowe got the loss with 2.1 innings pitched, two hits, one run, one walk and three strikeouts.
Navarro was eliminated from the tournament. The NJCAA Region 14 tournament is hosted by Northeast Texas Community College in Mount Pleasant. Visit www.ntcc.edu/tourney to follow the action as it happens.

Blinn rally eliminates Texarkana 5-4 at regional tournament
Despite Texarkana having the lead throughout most of the game, the Blinn Buccaneers were able to rally in the bottom of the ninth for the 5-4 win at the Region XIV tournament in Mount Pleasant. Blinn will play Navarro at 10 a.m. on Monday.
Texarkana put the first run on the board in the top of the third. Austin Coble led off with a walk and moved to second on a sacrifice by Tin Enriquez. Richard Sanguinetti singled to the right field, sending Cole home for the score.
Blinn was able to score one in the bottom of the fifth. Clay Tucker singled to the center fielder to start things off. Two consecutive outs followed, but Isaac Nuti came through with a triple to center field, scoring Tucker.
Texarkana scored two more in the top of the seventh. Brett Zieren led off with a homer to left field. Coble followed with a walk and pinch runner Jake Rogers advanced to second on a sacrifice by Enriquez. Sanguinetti singled to right field, allowing Rogers to score the second run of the inning.
Texarkana extended its lead to 4-1 in the top of the ninth when Coleman reached base on an error by the third baseman and then scored on a Sanguinetti double to right field.
Blinn's big rally started with a single by Tucker to left field. Lee Neumann followed with a huge triple to right field, scoring Tucker to make it 4-2. Max Minor drew a walk before Nuti singled to left field, allowing Neumann to score. Michael Guerra drew another walk, loading the bases with no outs. David Tittle struck out looking for the first out with three runners on. Brandon Lawrence hit a sacrifice fly deep enough for Minor to score the tying run. Chris Hernandez ripped a hard single to left field to score the winning run.
Nuti, Lawrence and Tucker each had two hits for Blinn. Minor, Guerra, Tittle, Hernandez and Neumann had one apiece. Garrett Staut picked up the win with three innings pitched, three hits, one run, one walk and two strikeouts.

Blinn’s Guerra signs with UT-Arlington
Blinn Buccaneer Michael Guerra signed a National Letter of Intent with the University of Texas-Arlington. The infielder from Alvin is the sixth Blinn player to commit to continue his career at the university level.
Pitcher Jonathon Delgado (College Park High) signed with the University of Texas-Pan Am. Pitcher Colton Eubanks of Caldwell signed with Stephen F. Austin University. Catcher P.D. McIntyre of Brenham signed with the University of Texas-San Antonio. Pitcher Britt Robertshaw of Cedar Park will play at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA. And catcher Santiago Ruiz (San Antonio Reagan) committed to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Blinn opens baseball tournament on Saturday against host team
The Blinn Buccaneers will play Northeast Texas at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the first round of the Region XIV baseball tournament. Blinn is the No. 2 seed from the South Zone. The tournament will be held May 15-18 in Mt. Pleasant with the winner advancing to the NJCAA Division I Junior College World Series in Grand Junction, CO, May 29-June 5.
The regional tournament includes top-ranked San Jacinto, No. 17 Northeast Texas, No. 21 Texarkana, and Navarro, which is No. 23 in the NJCAA poll released today.

Blinn baseball players commit to play in Southland Conference
Blinn College baseball coach Harvey McIntyre announced that two of his players have committed to continue their athletic careers in the Southland Conference.
Britt Robertshaw, a sophomore right-handed pitcher from Cedar Park, signed with Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA. Robertshaw is currently 2-0 with a 3.99 ERA in ten appearances.
Santiago Ruiz, a sophomore catcher from San Antonio, committed to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Ruiz has played in 30 games this season and is hitting .364.
“We are very proud of their accomplishments and pleased that they have the opportunity to continue being student athletes,” McIntyre said.

Buc verbally commits to play baseball at the University of Texas-San Antonio
Blinn sophomore catcher P.D. McIntyre has verbally committed to play baseball at the University of Texas-San Antonio. McIntyre is a 2008 graduate of Brenham High and a two-year starter behind the plate for the Buccaneers. Currently, McIntyre is hitting .314 on the year and .450 in conference play. He is the second Buccaneer to commit to a Division 1 program. Pitcher Jonathon Delgado signed with UT-Pan Am.

Blinn Baseball Overcomes 1-5 deficit to Win
In its third conference series of the year, the Blinn College baseball team had to fight for its fifth conference win. Blinn was down five runs in the fifth inning and staged a comeback beating Alvin 9-7. Will McCaleb earned the win coming in relief and Garrett Staut earned the save in the ninth inning. The offense was led by Chris Hernandez (2 for 4. 1 homerun), Isaac Nuti (2 for 3, 3 RBIs) and Christian Woolridge (2 for 3). Blinn improved to 5-2 in the conference and will play a doubleheader at Alvin on Saturday.

Blinn Baseball drops San Jac
The Blinn College baseball team won its fourth conference game of the season to remain undefeated in Region XIV play. The Bucs defeated San Jacinto College 3-1 with Aaron Stewart pitching seven innings of four hit ball. Garrett Staudt pitched two innings including striking out the side in the ninth to earn the save. With the game tied in the sixth inning, Santiago Ruiz pushed the Bucs ahead with a two-run homerun. The Bucs play at San Jacinto on Saturday.

Blinn Baseball Completes Weekend Sweep
In the Region XIV Conference opening weekend, the Blinn Buccaneers sweep Laredo College in a double header at Leroy Dryer Field. In the first game the Bucs ran away with an 11-5 win. Matt Hernendez pitched the Bucs to the win. Brenham product Issaic Nuti hit his first career homerun as the Bucs hit three for the day. In the second game Colton Eubanks pitched seven innings of one run ball as the Bucs won 8-1.
On Sunday Blinn College baseball team defeated Laredo in the final game of a three game series. Blinn won two games on Saturday and finished the sweep with a 12-2 win in eight innings. The winning pitcher was Will McCaleb. Lee Neumann ended the game with a walk off two run homerun in the bottom of the 8th for the run rule victory.

Blinn Baseball turns the clock back
The Blinn College Buccaneers will take fans back to the Golden Age of baseball on Saturday when they host the second annual Turn Back the Clock Night during a doubleheader at Leroy Dreyer Stadium. Players will don throwback uniforms authentic to those actually worn by Blinn during the 1920s and 1930s. Fans will be treated to a barbershop quartet performing the National Anthem, Big Band, Swing and Jazz music during the game, and 50-cent hot dogs and drinks.
First pitch for the day’s first game against Laredo Community College is set for 1 p.m. Vintage style game day programs will include team photos.
The Bucs will host a second Turn Back the Clock event on March 17 with San Jacinto College starting at 7 p.m.
Blinn baseball throwback games are an annual event with proceeds from sponsorships, admissions and concessions benefiting charity. This year funds raised above the costs necessary to put on the games will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County.
The Boys & Girls Club of Washington County is a non-profit organization committed to providing every child with the essential tools needed for a successful and bright future. Started in 1906, The Boys & Girls Club (BGCA) now serves more than 4.5 million youth in 4,300 clubs across America and abroad through club membership and outreach. The BGCA aims to provide young people 6-18 years old with guidance-oriented character development programs conducted by trained, professional staff.

Spring Training Camp
The City of Brenham Recreation Department and the Blinn College Buccaneer baseball program are joining together to hosts a three week Spring Training Camp beginning January 25, 2010. During this time, participants ages 5-12 will interact with the entire coaching staff and current members of the 2010 Blinn Buccaneer baseball team. All participants will be taught the fundamentals of “America’s greatest past time”.

Bucs host 1st Annual Washington County Little League Clinic
Blinn Buccaneer players and coaches conducted the First Annual Washington County Little League Clinic at Leroy Dreyer Field on April 16, 2009. The clinic was free to children who wanted to learn or improve their baseball and softball skills. The two-hour session involved hitting, defense, pitching, base running, and proper throwing mechanics.

Blinn baseball players prove to be good hosts
The Blinn College baseball players participate in HOSTS (Helping One Student to Succeed) in cooperation with the Brenham Independent School District. Players read to students from Brenham, Krause, and Alton elementary schools every Thursday during the fall and spring semesters. The Blinn baseball program has been involved with HOSTS for nine years.
